Without a hub, camera, or blind spots, the Aqara FP2 presence sensor covers up to 40 m² with a single device. Based on 60-64 GHz millimeter wave radar technology, it simultaneously detects up to five people, divides the room into up to 30 independent zones, and triggers precise automations for each. Compatible with Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Alexa, and IFTTT via direct 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, no Aqara gateway required.
Multi-zone, multi-person detection, and fall detection in one sensor
Where a classic PIR only detects overall movement, the Aqara FP2 presence sensor identifies up to five people simultaneously and their precise position in the room. Each configured zone, whether it's a sofa, desk, or bed, can trigger independent automations: for example, turning on a reading lamp in the desk area while maintaining a subdued ambiance in the sofa area.
Installed on the ceiling, the FP2 activates a fall detection mode that sends an alert to your smartphone if someone falls in the monitored area, a particularly useful feature for elderly people living alone. Automations run locally, without the cloud, and remain active even if the internet connection is lost.
The Aqara FP2 presence sensor protects your privacy and adapts to all environments
No video, no images: the Aqara FP2 presence sensor only analyzes variations in the radar signal to detect presence and micro-movements, without ever capturing visual information. Its IPX5 certification allows it to be installed in humid environments such as a bathroom, in addition to classic living areas. The integrated light sensor enriches the lighting automations available in Aqara Home, HomeKit, and IFTTT. Wired via USB-C 5V/1A, it operates continuously without battery constraints, with a maximum detection range of 15 meters.
FAQ
Does the FP2 require an Aqara hub to function?
No, the FP2 connects directly via 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and integrates with HomeKit, Alexa, Google Home, and Home Assistant without an Aqara hub. However, a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network is essential, and the router must not be more than 10 meters from the sensor without obstruction.
Can the FP2 be installed in a bathroom?
Yes, its IPX5 certification makes it compatible with humid environments. It can be fixed to the wall or ceiling using the included screw kit and metal plate, without risk from steam or water splashes.
What is the difference between the FP2 and the FP1E?
The FP2 works via direct Wi-Fi without a hub, covers up to 40 m² with 30 configurable zones, and detects up to five people simultaneously. The FP1E works with Zigbee, requires an Aqara hub, and is more oriented towards simple automations based on presence or absence in a room.
