Shelly Dimmer Gen3: Ultra-Compact Smart Wi-Fi Dimmer Switch
Shelly Dimmer Gen3: Ultra-Compact Smart Wi-Fi Dimmer Switch
🌴 We are currently on vacation until September 4, 2026. Orders are temporarily suspended. Our catalog remains available to browse. For any inquiries regarding a product, please feel free to contact us.
Compatible with dimmable LED bulbs (up to 150W), incandescent and halogen lamps (up to 200W), and dimmable electronic transformers (up to 200W), it operates with or without a neutral wire depending on your electrical setup. Featuring a compact 38 × 42.5 × 16.5 mm footprint and weighing just 24.3 grams, the Shelly Dimmer Gen3 smart Wi-Fi dimmer fits into the narrowest wall junction boxes and control panels without requiring a hub or bridge. It connects directly to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network via the Shelly Smart Control app.
Trailing Edge Dimming, Scripting, MQTT, and Webhooks for Advanced Setups
Trailing edge phase-cut dimming is the gentlest method for LEDs, minimizing flickering and extending the operational lifespan of connected bulbs. The Dimmer Gen3 embeds a comprehensive local scripting engine, 20 webhooks with up to 5 URLs per trigger, as well as native MQTT, WebSocket, and KVS support for complex local automations without cloud dependency. Twenty advanced schedules cover elaborate automation scenarios, while built-in Bluetooth 4.2 serves as a BLE gateway for nearby sensors.
Real-Time Power Metering and Integrated Hardware Protections
Equipped with an integrated voltmeter (180–240V) and ammeter (0–3A) providing ±5% accuracy in neutral mode, the Dimmer Gen3 monitors real-time energy consumption directly within the app. Overload and short-circuit protections (compatible with 16A Type B or C circuit breakers with 6 kA breaking capacity) ensure safety for both the device and your electrical installation. An internal temperature sensor automatically cuts off power in case of overheating. Note: In a no-neutral wiring setup with a total load under 20W, a Shelly Bypass is required to guarantee optimal dimmer operation.
Seamless Home Assistant, Alexa, and Google Home Compatibility
Operating hub-free, the Dimmer Gen3 connects over 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and integrates natively into Home Assistant via MQTT or the official Shelly integration, alongside Amazon Alexa and Google Home for voice control. The Wi-Fi range reaches up to 30 meters indoors and 50 meters outdoors depending on local conditions. Dual-core processors (ESP32-C3 and STM32G051) ensure ultra-fast response times to dimming commands, backed by 8 MB of flash memory for future firmware enhancements.
FAQ
Does the Shelly Dimmer Gen3 work with all LED bulbs?
No. Only LED bulbs explicitly labeled as dimmable (up to 150W total) are supported. Non-dimmable LED bulbs are incompatible and may flicker, buzz, or fail to operate properly. Always check for "dimmable" compatibility on your bulb packaging before installation.
When is the Shelly Bypass required?
The Shelly Bypass is required only in no-neutral installations when the total lighting load is below 20 Watts. It is not needed if a neutral wire is connected to the module or if your load exceeds 20W in a no-neutral setup.
Does energy metering work without a neutral wire?
Accurate voltage and current measurements (±5% accuracy) are guaranteed by the manufacturer only in WITH Neutral wiring configurations. In no-neutral mode, power measurements are displayed but without guaranteed accuracy per manufacturer specifications.
