Equipped with the Zigbee 3.0 protocol, the SwitchMan ZBM5 integrates naturally into the eWeLink ecosystem and can also be used with Home Assistant via ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT when paired with a compatible coordinator, such as a SONOFF ZBDongle-P or ZBDongle-E. When installed with a neutral wire, it acts as a permanent Zigbee router, strengthening the range and stability of the mesh network. Does the ZBM5 work without a neutral wire?

Yes, the ZBM5 supports both configurations: with neutral and without neutral. In non-neutral mode, the Zigbee router function is not available. In neutral mode, the device also acts as a repeater to strengthen the Zigbee network.

What happens if the physical switch is turned off with smart bulbs?

Thanks to the detached relay mode, smart bulbs remain powered and remotely controllable via eWeLink smart scenes even when the physical switch is in the off position. If the device is offline, the physical switch resumes direct control.

Is the ZBM5 compatible with Apple HomeKit?

No, the ZBM5 works via the eWeLink app and SONOFF Zigbee hubs. It is compatible with Alexa, Google Home, and Home Assistant, but does not natively support Apple HomeKit.
