Shelly 1 Gen4: The Multi-protocol 16A Dry Contact Relay (Wi-Fi 6, Zigbee 3.0 & Matter) Compact (37 × 42 × 16 mm), the Shelly 1 Gen4 fits into wall boxes and electrical panels. Its dry contact (potential-free) output combined with a switching capacity of 16A (3680W at 240V AC) and multi-voltage power supply (230V AC, 12V DC, 24–48V DC) allows it to control everything: lights, heating, irrigation, doorbell, gate, or garage door up to 16A at 240V AC. Powered by the ESP32-C6 chip, it integrates Wi-Fi 6, Zigbee 3.0, Bluetooth 5.0, and the universal Matter protocol (Apple HomeKit compatible via Siri). Important: A Neutral wire is required for AC power supply.
Multi-voltage, dry contacts and KNX to adapt to all installations
The 1 Gen4 supports both 110-240V AC and 12V DC, 24-48V DC, and 30V DC, making it usable in a wide variety of configurations: classic home lighting, low-voltage irrigation systems, gate motorization, or professional equipment on KNXnet/IP. Its potential-free dry contact relay allows it to control contactors for heavy loads without direct exposure to high voltages. The Shelly 1 Gen4 Matter embeddable relay module also acts as a Wi-Fi and Zigbee repeater to extend network coverage, and as a Bluetooth gateway for nearby BLE sensors.
Local automations, scripts and Apple HomeKit for a truly connected home
Scenes and schedules run directly on the 1 Gen4 without going through the internet, ensuring that the gate opens, lights turn on, and irrigation starts even without a cloud connection. Support for custom scripts, webhooks, MQTT, HTTPS, and WebSocket opens up advanced automation possibilities with Home Assistant and open-source platforms. Matter certified, the Shelly 1 Gen4 Matter embeddable relay module joins Apple HomeKit via Siri, Google Home, and Alexa without ecosystem barriers or complex configuration.
Zigbee range up to 100 meters indoors and 300 meters outdoors
In Zigbee mode, the 1 Gen4's range reaches 100 meters indoors and 300 meters outdoors depending on conditions, making it a particularly suitable option for large properties, remote garages, or gardens. This extended range, combined with the integrated Zigbee repeater function, allows for building a robust and reliable mesh network in areas where Wi-Fi alone is not enough to cover the entire installation.
FAQ
Can the Shelly 1 Gen4 control a garage door or automatic gate?
Yes, thanks to its dry contact relay and pulse switching mode, the 1 Gen4 is compatible with the vast majority of garage door and gate motors. It allows remote control from the app or via an Apple HomeKit, Google Home, or Alexa voice command.
Is a neutral wire mandatory for the 1 Gen4 installation?
Yes, unlike some other Shelly models, the 1 Gen4 requires a neutral wire to function. Check for the presence of a neutral wire in your recessed box before purchasing.
What is the difference between the 1 Gen4 and the 1PM Gen4?
The 1PM Gen4 adds an integrated voltmeter and ammeter to measure real-time power consumption. The 1 Gen4 does not have this measurement but offers dry contacts and KNX compatibility, making it a more suitable choice for professional installations or low-voltage systems.
