SONOFF MINI-D: The Matter-Compatible Wi-Fi Dry Contact Relay
Compact at only 41 × 43 × 21.5 mm and certified CE, FCC and RoHS, the SONOFF MINI-D is a Wi-Fi smart relay featuring a dry contact (potential-free) output, designed to automate boilers, garage doors, electric gates, irrigation valves, access control systems and many other automation devices.
The module supports both 100–240V AC and 12–48V DC power supplies, making it suitable for a wide variety of residential, commercial and industrial installations.
Certified for Matter over Wi-Fi, the MINI-D integrates seamlessly with Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings, and Home Assistant (through a compatible Matter Controller), while remaining fully manageable through the eWeLink app.
Dry Contact (NO/NC): Ideal for Boilers, Gates and Access Control
Featuring a configurable Normally Open (NO) or Normally Closed (NC) dry contact output, the SONOFF MINI-D acts as a potential-free relay, making it the perfect interface for equipment that does not include built-in smart connectivity.
Typical applications include:
- Gas boilers and heat pumps with dry-contact thermostat inputs
- Garage door and gate operators
- Access control systems and electric strikes
- Irrigation valves
- Low-power DC actuators up to 8 W
Important: The dry contact output is designed for switching control signals or low-power loads (24 V DC / 2 A maximum). To control high-power AC equipment, an appropriately rated external contactor or relay must be used.
Local Control, Detached Relay Mode and Smart Home Integration
The MINI-D adapts easily to existing electrical installations thanks to its support for three external switch modes:
- Momentary push button
- Toggle switch
- SPDT (two-way) switch
Its Detached Relay Mode separates the physical wall switch from the relay output, allowing the connected device to remain controllable through the app or your smart home system regardless of the switch position.
The built-in LAN Mode enables fast local control via the eWeLink app whenever the smartphone and the module are connected to the same local network, even if the Internet connection is temporarily unavailable.
For advanced users, the MINI-D can also be integrated into Home Assistant through Matter or other compatible integrations depending on your smart home architecture.
Smart Automations and Wireless Scene Control
Built-in timers, countdowns, schedules and recurring automation cycles make it easy to automate heating, irrigation, lighting and many other systems.
The configurable Power-on State allows the relay to:
- Restore ON
- Restore OFF
- Restore the previous state
- Restore the opposite state
The MINI-D also supports SONOFF eWeLink-Remote, allowing a SONOFF SwitchMan R5 wireless scene controller to operate the relay without running additional wiring.
FAQ
Can the MINI-D control a garage door?
Yes. If your garage door opener supports a dry contact trigger input, the MINI-D can simulate a wall button press, allowing you to open or close the garage door from the eWeLink app, a voice assistant or Matter automations.
Always verify compatibility with your garage door controller before installation.
Can the MINI-D directly control a gas boiler?
Yes. If your boiler provides a dry contact thermostat input, the MINI-D can usually be connected directly using its NO or NC terminals.
If your heating system uses another type of control input or requires a powered signal, consult the manufacturer's documentation or use an appropriate intermediate relay.
Does Matter require additional hardware?
Yes. Like all Matter devices, the MINI-D requires a compatible Matter Controller, such as:
- Apple HomePod
- Apple TV
- Google Nest Hub
- Amazon Echo with Matter support
- Samsung SmartThings Hub
- Home Assistant Matter Server
Once added, the MINI-D supports on/off control, voice commands and inclusion in Matter automations.
Can the MINI-D automate an irrigation system?
Yes. The MINI-D can directly control compatible low-voltage irrigation valves or trigger an external relay depending on your installation. Combined with schedules and automation routines, it provides reliable irrigation control.
