With dimensions of just 39.5 × 33 × 16.8 mm, the SONOFF ZBMINIR2 fits easily behind a switch or in a standard junction box. Equipped with the Silicon Labs EFR32MG21 chip, it can control a lighting circuit or an electrical appliance up to 10 A (2400 W maximum for resistive loads) while strengthening your Zigbee network thanks to its router function. This module requires wiring with live and neutral wires. For installations without a neutral wire, the SONOFF ZBMINIL2 model is the suitable alternative.

Detached relay mode, Zigbee repeater, and Turbo Mode for large installations

The detached relay mode allows smart bulbs to remain constantly powered while still using the wall switch, preventing them from going offline. Continuously powered, the ZBMINIR2 also acts as a Zigbee router, automatically improving network coverage and stability for battery-powered devices. Turbo Mode optimizes the radio performance of the Zigbee network to improve communication quality in environments with numerous obstacles.

The ultra-compact SONOFF ZBMINIR2 Zigbee relay module is compatible with HomeKit via Matter and Home Assistant

Compatible with SONOFF hubs (ZB Bridge Pro, Zigbee Bridge Ultra, NSPanel Pro, iHost) as well as various Zigbee coordinators, the ZBMINIR2 integrates perfectly with Home Assistant via ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT with ZBDongle-P or ZBDongle-E dongles. When paired with the SONOFF Zigbee Bridge Ultra, it can be exposed to compatible Matter platforms, such as Apple Home, Google Home, or Amazon Alexa. Depending on the platform used, some advanced features like OTA updates may also be available.

Multiple external switches, state memory, and configurable timers

The ZBMINIR2 is compatible with momentary switches, door contacts, SPDT switches, and toggle switches, covering almost all existing configurations in Europe without modifying the wiring. The power-off state memory offers four options: return to ON, OFF, last state, or inverse of last state, with a configurable recovery delay from 0.5 seconds to 59 minutes 59 seconds. Loop timers and scheduled timings run locally via Zigbee scenes configured in eWeLink, even without an active internet connection.

FAQ

Is the ZBMINIR2 compatible with the Philips Hue bridge?

Yes, the ZBMINIR2 is compatible with the Philips Hue Bridge, unlike some other SONOFF Zigbee modules. It also works with Amazon's Echo Plus 2nd generation, Echo 4th generation, and Echo Show 2nd generation speakers.

How do I enable Apple HomeKit compatibility with the ZBMINIR2?

The ZBMINIR2 is not natively HomeKit compatible. To access Apple HomeKit, it must be paired with the SONOFF Zigbee Bridge Ultra, which integrates the Matter bridge function, allowing SONOFF Zigbee devices to be exposed to Matter-compatible smart home systems such as Apple HomeKit.

Can the ZBMINIR2 be used with an existing momentary switch?

Yes, the ZBMINIR2 natively supports momentary (push-button) switches as well as toggle switches, SPDT, and door contacts. The external switch mode is configured from the eWeLink app without modifying existing wiring.

What is the difference between ZBMINIR2 and ZBMINIL2?

The ZBMINIR2 requires live and neutral wiring. In return, it acts as a Zigbee router, supports a maximum load of 10 A, and improves mesh network coverage. The ZBMINIL2 is designed for installations without a neutral wire, but cannot function as a Zigbee router.
